Funky Blues Workshop
Spend an afternoon getting bluesy with special guest instructors Miguel Cruz from Barcelona and Shivani Govender from London! They are presenting a 3-hour workshop in two parts:
Part 1 (13h00) – Dips & Tricks
Part 2 (14h45) – Funky Blues
Attend one (R150) or both (R300), they are independent classes. Either way, bring water (and snacks if you need to keep energy up) because we will have breaks.

About the instructors
Miguel is a passionate Blues dancer and one of the main Blues teachers in Barcelona. Since he started dancing in 2013, he hasn’t stopped dancing, researching the roots of this dance, and traveling to learn from the best teachers in the world. In 2015 he started DJing for Blues dance festivals and teaching in his local scene in Barcelona, Spain. In 2017 he travelled to the deep South of the United States, from Memphis, through the Mississippi Delta, and as far as New Orleans, to learn about the Blues music and African-American culture. Now, he shares his passion for music, history, and dance with students around the world.
Shivani started lindy hop five years ago but knew she found her real love in blues dancing. She’s a member of London’s blues troupe, the Down and Outs, and has started teaching blues in London. Why blues? Well, Shivani finds the music to be so truly intoxicating and emotive that it encourages expression in movement (for both leads or followers). It fosters a connection between the music and your partner, or even with yourself in dancing solo. She may live in London but her heart is still proudly South African so she’s excited to be bringing more blues magic to her Cape Town dance family.
