Silo Concerts presents This Thing Called Swing
“If you love to Jump, Jive, Jitterbug, Swing or Hop, then this is your time. The Silo District Concerts presents a night dedicated to Swing dancing and Big Band Music. We have Swing DJ’s, and a 20 piece “Swing All Stars Big Band, led by Mike Campbell. They will swing you through the thirties and forties. A dedicated dance floor will be waiting for you, so dress up, bring your dancing shoes. If you dont like to dance, and love Big Band music and remember hits from the era of Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Woody Herman, than this is also the night for you. We have lawns and benches to relax on.
Picture a beautiful sunset peeking behind the incredible Zeitz MOCAA Museum as your backdrop with a gentle ocean breeze blowing up from the west, and you have the perfect setting for a beautiful concert.
The Silo District Sundowner Concerts which started in the Summer of 2017 have grown with absolute success with full houses and memorable events.
One the past two seasons, we have featured, 70 piece Orchestras, Jazz and Kwela Bands, Acapella Ensembles, 20 piece Swing Bands, Electro Classical Acts, African Divas, Salsa and Tango bands, as well as Crooners and Mini Orchestras.
Come down to the Silo District on the V&A Waterfront this Summer on the first Friday of every month and be a part of something special.
There is NO COVER CHARGE, and the benches and space on the lawn is on a first come first seated basis. There are benches available, but you can bring chairs to add to the space on the Piazza. No chairs are allowed on the lawn, but blankets are most certainly allowed. No standing on the lawned or pathways. We also advise you to book at the surrounding restaurants in the Silo District.
