Dress vintage, babes, and enjoy our live swing jazz trio: Matt Willis on trombone, Sarah Blake on double bass, Andrew Ford on keys. You might recognise these stellar musicians from local jazz gigs (and you know the CT jazz scene is excellent), or from the Pebble Shakers: Matt is a core member of the band, and Sarah and Andrew have both played as guest performers.
Not a dancer? That’s ok – have a drink and enjoy the live entertainment!
World Lindy Hop Day is celebrated by the global swing dance scene in memory of Frankie Manning, the Ambassador of Lindy Hop, who was born on 26 May 1914. Frankie is considered one of the originators of the lindy hop in the 1930s, and is beloved by many for playing a key role in bringing it back to popularity in the 1980s.
This short snippet features Frankie Manning discussing the Lindy Hop and a brief clip of him social dancing at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem as a youth.
