Beginner Lindy Hop: Swing Outs 101 (Observatory)

The swing out is a cornerstone piece of the lindy hop*, and this 4-week course will take you from a possible two-left feet situation, to swinging out smoothly on the social dance floor.  The course is beginner-friendly, specially designed for those who have little-to-no dance experience, and for those who have danced other types of dances but want to try lindy hop.

* The lindy hop is a partnered dance that originated in the African American communities in Harlem in the 1930s, and spread all over the world during the height of the Swing Era. It’s a dynamic, connected, stretchy, super-fun, expressive dance that plays with the swinging big band music of the era. It’s made a big comeback in recent decades thanks to its joyful energy.
