Improver Balboa Workshop
Keen for something a bit different? Join us to learn some Balboa: a partnered swing dance that originated in California while the lindy hop was taking off on the East Coast. Danced to the same swinging music, Balboa developed a closer connection due to the crowded dance floors it filled. Less energetic than lindy hop, and more footwork-focused, balboa can be danced at high tempos with ease.
This is Part 2 of the Workshop.
When: Sunday 25 February, 12-2PM
Where: De Waal Park Bandstand, Molteno Rd, CBD
Cost: R300 (CTS Members get 30% off)
What to expect:
In Part 1 of the workshop, we’ll introduce you to the fundamentals of balboa: posture, connection, basic footwork patterns.
In Part 2, we’ll guide you through leading and following some pure balboa and bal-swing variations.
By the end of the full workshop, you should be able to comfortably social dance some balboa basics to fast, swinging big band jazz!
Who is this for?
This workshop is aimed at those who have learnt the basic footwork, connection and fundamentals of Balboa and are ready for variations and more of a challenge.
