Swing Dance workshop: Lindy Chorus
Frankie Manning originally choreographed The Lindy Chorus, hoping that it would become a part of his legacy – it was learnt by hundreds (thousands?) of lindy hoppers around the world and performed at his centennial (Frankie 100). It has since become a classic routine that every lindy hopper should give a go at least once.
Lindy Chorus is a fairly simple partnered choreography that incorporates lots of Frankie’s favourite social moves (Texas Tommy, Switches, Tandem, Around the World, and Points). In short, it’s perfect for the intermediate or rising intermediate dancer who wants to really swing out.
Check out our friends from 9:20 Special in San Francisco performing the routine to get a feel for how this should look on the stage.
