I was born in Messina in the Limpopo Province in 1969 and I was raised in Hazyview in Mpumalanga. Matriculated in 1986 and study Horticulture at the then Technikon Pretoria, now known as Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). Growing up on a farm where my grandmother who was an artist, also lived, I was exposed to the smell of turps and oils that she used to create her paintings.
As far back as I remember, I was always busy sketching and busy painting, but I never believed that my work was good enough. After my husband and I got married in 1994 and our daughter was born in 1997 I decided as a stay at home mom that I need to take up my art again. I attended informal classes and attended a one week art course with Dale Elliott, famous landscape artist in Villiersdorp.
At the end of 2006 we moved to Durbanville in Cape Town. It is then that I really started my amateur career as an artist. I kept myself busy with commission works and small art related projects. I started to share my art with a few ladies and then it became a full time work three years ago. Last year there was a shift in my art life and I really started to sell my work through social media. I took part in an exhibition at the Franschoek Art Festival late last year and it was a great success. I sold a few pieces of art to tourists from Europe. This was an indication to me that it is time to start a professional artist career. I sincerely hope that my work be loved by people and that they will show admiration to the source of my inspiration.
